I’m trying one of these challenges I asked for:

Mondays Finish the Story – May 11th – 17th, 2015.© 2015, Barbara W. Beacham

This is a unique flash fiction challenge where we provide you with a new photo each week, and the first sentence of a story. Your challenge is to finish the story using 100-150 words, not including the sentence provided. Don’t forget to use the opening sentence… This challenge runs from Monday to Sunday! Get creative and have fun finishing the story!

Finish the story begins with:  “Arriving at the beach, she reflected on her life.”

Please include the photo with your bit of flash and a link back to this post. Do not forget to click on the blue guy (on the source website) and add your link so that others can enjoy your story too! Now let’s have some fun!

Thank you for participating! I am looking forward to reading your stories and sharing them with others! Be well and stay tuned for next week’s challenge!

Here’s mine, Barbara:

He was drunk, and he was a rat.  The bruise purpling her eye hid under concealer and sunglasses.  The bruises on her abdomen and arms went under the long-sleeved sundress.  She packed the rest of her clothes and personal care items.  The flight was booked a month ago, to Costa Rica.

She stepped carefully over the motionless, seated man, avoiding the evidence, pooling like wine spilled on the hardwood.  She set the handgun carefully in his right hand.  The note she had forced him to write lay near the left. She raised his arm, firing at the wall using his index finger, having wiped off her own fingerprints.  One bullet hit their photograph.

Weeks of slow withdrawals had depleted their savings into her luggage.  She got on the plane, thinking, “I’m finally free.”

Arriving at the beach, she reflected on her life.

    1. Blending a bit of truth with fiction, only my imagination killed the bastard. In real life the lady I know fled away from him and found a good guy. So in real life it was a happy ending and she wasn’t a felon waiting for conviction. She got away and her ex was labelled a stalker, but I had other labels for him… The lovely lady remarried and they are finding out what it’s like to live happily ever after. I couldn’t be happier for her. If he hits you, even once, run, and don’t look back. I’m glad you all liked my little flash. Thanks for all the comments.
